Take advantage of the recession before time runs out

Wednesday, August 19th, 2009

With France, Germany and Japan out of recession, the pressing question is obvious – who’s next? Sadly, the UK is still burdened with a ruined banking system and is desperately experimenting in quantitative easing to try and fix the mess. The UK Treasury is currently declaring an expected worse-than 0.8% decline on 2nd Quarter GDP. The revised estimate however, is released on 28th August, and many are expecting the figure to be a positive one.

Further positive thought was bolstered yesterday when Abby Joseph Cohen, a senior investment strategist at Goldman Sachs declared that the U.S. recession is over “right now”. He also noted that “clearly the economy is on the mend… we do think that profit growth will be more substantial going forward” – therefore supporting hopes that the “credit crunch” is drawing to a close.

With huge discounts still available in most sectors, the question now is one of taking advantage before general economic prosperity leads back to “service as usual”. If you regard yourself as a true opportunist, it is perhaps time to book that deserved holiday while the sun continues to shine and the sales are still on. Instant decision loans online can provide you with quick cash and minimum fuss – just the funding for whatever that celebratory treat may be.

For people who can see the light at the end of the tunnel of recession, a planned short-term loan would minimise risk while providing the means for escape now! SameDayCash can find you cash fast, and by applying through us your application is put to several lenders who will provide a loan that suits your needs.

Budget tools and personal finance

Monday, April 6th, 2009

Fans of budgeting and financial management are getting spoiled for choice these days. No longer do end-users need to purchase expensive software bundles or themselves be accountants in order to enjoy the luxury of a budget management system. Today there is an array of tools from simple budget calculators to more in-depth tools that link to your bank account and continually monitor your expenses.

A few favourites include:

• Wonga Budget Calculator

This is a basic budgeting tool with a friendly user-interface.  You can save your work and come back to it or print it off to take a copy with you. With your wage slip in hand and a grasp on your monthly bills, you’re ready to get underway.

• Buxfer – Personal finance software

Buxfer is free online personal software for budgeting and expense management. Buxfer can link all your bank accounts and credit cards into your Buxfer account so you can manage them all from one location. You can see where your money goes and also create budgets.

• Geezeo – Personal finance for everyone

Geezeo is also a free online personal software tool that links to bank accounts and you can access Geezeo from any computer, not just your own home or work computer. Users can create discussion groups and can work together to meet their own personal financial goals. Lots of great tools here.

Managing your own finances and getting out of debt is very much an “in” thing these days, and when the masses talk, smart companies listen. Get on the bandwagon and start crunching some numbers!

Festive spending brings credit card misery to UK shoppers

Friday, January 9th, 2009

Thousands of UK shoppers have overused their credit cards during Christmas and this week their first credit card bills are landing on their doorstep. Some people will be dreading to check their bills, others will wonder how they can pay off their credit card balances.

There are many solutions to clearing your credit card debt in a way where one avoids piling up more debt through interest charge. A recent article by The Guardian shows ways on how to manage your credit card debt as well as clever ways to reduce your outstanding debt. Here is an extract:

Depending on your credit rating, you could switch your existing balance on to a 0% balance transfer credit card and pay off whatever you can within the interest- free period

Interest free cards can be one solution to cut the amount owed to credit cards but not the only one, as the article continues:

If your balance is particularly high and you really are at your credit card limit, then it may be worth taking a loan to clear your balance.

Debt consolidation can also have far reaching benefits. Consolidating your debts in to one easy monthly repayment each month will not only lower your outgoings but also improve your credit score and it could just be the first step towards a clean credit sheet. Remember then to cut up your credit card so avoind being tempted into continuing to spend on it.

Christmas spend during credit crunch

Monday, December 1st, 2008

Christmas as usual, or not?

Credit Action’s monthly debt statistics came out today including a Christmas season special report. Despite shrinking economy, falling stock markets and gloomy times ahead, 57% of UK consumers will spend the same this Christmas as they did last year, for many people in the UK, this year will be Christmas as usual.

This may come as good news to the retail industry as the reduction in VAT that comes into force today. A lot has been said in the past week since Chancellor Alistair Darling announced the cut in his pre-Budget report in a bid to encourage consumers to spend more and boost the economy. A 2.5% reduction in VAT in many cases is dwindled by the massive reductions on most high street stores this week, some of them cutting prices up to 50% to lure shoppers into their stores and try to salvage the pre-Christmas season.

But reduction on VAT or massive shopping discounting is not going to help cash-strapped families who turn to credit to pay for Christmas, these families could be setting themselves for a New Year debt disaster, children’s charity Action for Children is warning. Read the full research findings here.
